Friday 16th January sees Roadrunner make their first visit to the JJJ stage for an evening of, as they put it, “rock, pop and all sorts in between“!

The Leicester-based 4-piece started back in 1985 and have gone through various line-up changes over the year, along with presenting different musical genres, but now they’re back and better than ever and we’re excited to have them join us and blast through two sets packed with classics such as Jean Jeanie (Bowie), Since You Been Gone (Rainbow), Don’t Bring Me Down (ELO), The Seeker (The Who), Stuck in the Middle With You (Stealers Wheel) and Born to be Wild (Steppenwolf) and many, many more …

On Saturday 17th January we are looking forward to welcoming back blues powerhouse BluMonde to the JJJ stage.

No-nonsense blues trio BluMonde play a mix of handpicked blues classics and original material with skill and feeling. Relatively new to the Midland Blues scene we all have been playing for years with bands as diverse as Martian Social Club, Grey Goose Blues Band and Ron’s Neighbours to name but a few! Featuring the sinuous and sinewy guitar and vocal of Al Monde, the fluid bass of Steve Watson and rock solid drums of Tom Mitchell they offer a thrilling ride through a landscape of blues.

We’re excited to announce the welcome return to JJJ of The Consortium on Friday 23rd January.

The Consortium features The Coopers’ front man Phil Stanley. Their set is drawn from the Mod and New Wave scene spanning from the 1960s to the 1990s and with Phil’s dynamic stage presence, and the band’s authentic sound, The Consortium delivers a high energy set taking the audience on a nostalgic trip back to those glorious days!

On Friday 30th January the Man of the World: The Music of Peter Green show returns to Joe Joe Jims to celebrate the life and music of Peter Green, founder of the original Fleetwood Mac, who was not only one of the guitar-playing greats of 1960s blues-rock, but also a gifted songwriter.

The band is lead by guitarist Remi Harris who will be joined by vocalist Dave Small, bassist Tom Moore and Shane Dixon on drums to perform music from throughout Peter Green’s career including such classics as Man Of The World, Black Magic Woman, Need Your Love So Bad, Albatross and The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown).

A recent gig review by Lichfield Live stated that “this was a band that brought vivid life to the songs and instrumentals written and performed by Peter Green… The songs were treated with proper respect, but each of the musicians played things with taste and accuracy” … sounds like a perfect evening to us!

Riggerz return to Joe Joe Jim’s on Saturday 31st January for another great evening of “good old foot stomping rock ‘n’ roll and blues covers”.

Classic Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, The Stones and Creedence all get the Riggerz treatment amongst others with the band also giving a nod to local heroes Spencer Davis and Steve Gibbons as we trawl the classic Rock and Rock and Roll archives from the late 50s up to more recent times.

The band have an extensive repertoire of classic tracks to entertain us on what will be a rockin’ good night!

Loz Rabone returns to JJJ for an afternoon of live music on Sunday 1st February when he’ll treat us to an intimate, acoustic performance.

As well as his role as vocalist/guitarist with The 3 Sixties, in his own right, Loz is a professional singer and guitarist with many years of experience performing acoustic covers drawing from a huge repertoire of rock, indie, folk and pop classics from 60’s to modern day.

A typical set would include covers from bands such as: The Beatles. Oasis, Paul Weller, The Verve, The Stereophonics, The Kooks, Chili Peppers, Kings Of Leon, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Green Day, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and The Kinks.

On Friday 6th January Basil Gabbidon once again brings his band to JJJ to help us celebrate the birthday of reggae legend Bob Marley – who would have turned 81 on the very date of this gig!

Led by Basil Gabbidon, founding member of Steel Pulse, one of the biggest Reggae bands to come out of Birmingham and the UK, GABBIDON makes sure that Reggae music remains live in Birmingham, the UK, Europe and Worldwide with a band featuring legendary Burning Spear bassist Paul Beckford, Karimah (Vocals), Catherine Beroard-Gabbidon (Vocals),GG (drums), Cherrie Morrison (Backing Vocals) and Shaik Faisal Ahmed (Keyboards).

Basil, who has toured with Steel Pulse alongside Bob Marley and the Wailers (among many others), and the band will be taking us through an evening peppered with Bob Marley classics as well as a generous helping of reggae, roots & trojan tracks from both the Steel Pulse and Basil Gabbidon back catalogues.

This should be a real treat for reggae fans and a rare opportunity to enjoy one musical legend paying a musical tribute to another: don’t miss out on this one folks … it should be a fantastic evening!

If you love classic rock, as we know a lot of you do, then Saturday 7th February will be a date for your diaries as we welcome The Rooters back to Joe Joe Jims.

The band have played some barnstorming gigs with us previously and have a heavy gig schedule throughout the country and we’re extremely pleased that they’ve managed to fit us in for what will be another fine evening of “dual guitar attack with massive bass and drums to keep us rollicking along“, with two sets from the boys covering songs from bands such as Thin Lizzy, Queen, Metallica, Black Stone Cherry, Thunder, Black Sabbath, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ozzy, Iron Maiden and Deep Purple amongst many more artists.

On Friday 13th February, join the Buddy Holly Experience for Final Flight — the farewell tour that takes you back to the golden age of rock ’n’ roll, one last time. On Friday 20th February we are please to announce that Kozmic Pearl, the UK’s ultimate Janis Joplin Tribute Act, will be returning to the JJJ stage!

It’s no small feat to take-on the work of Janis Joplin but that’s exactly what Mena Hardy does with aplomb. A seasoned rock ‘n roll frontwoman from Canada, she brings decades of experience in soulful, powerful rock ‘n roll singing to this new Birmingham-based tribute band also featuring guitarist Chris Lloyd, bassist Dave Poole, keyboardist Alan Morgan and drummer David Pearce.

The band deliver a raw, soulful, and electrifying performance, capturing the spirit of Janis like no other so ‘Get It While You Can’ … and what’s more, it’ll be Mena’s birthday too and the gig is being recorded so make sure you come along and take part in the concert and enjoy a great night of live music!

On Saturday 21st February we welcome back The Milk Men to JJJ to deliver their unique blend of driving rhythm and blues coupled with powerful blues rock.

The Milk Men is a band made up from the cream of British R’n’B talent and pedigree, bringing together members of the legendary Pirates, and British Blues Award-nominated the Mustangs, The Milk Men have been tearing up venues and festivals all over the UK with their dynamic, white hot versions of classic blues tunes, alongside unforgettable foot-stomping originals.

With former Pirate Mike Roberts on drums, Lloyd Green (son of r’n’b legend Mick Green) on bass guitar, husky blues singer Jamie Smy on vocals, the band is rounded off on guitar by Adam Norsworthy, singer and guitarist in the Mustangs.

The Milk Men’s sound has been called ‘ZZ/DC Feelgood” by some critics, who have lavished praise on the band’s dynamic live show and original songs. But the band draws its influences from all corners of the blues and rock worlds, from early Rod Stewart through classic Rolling Stones, to the heavier blues leanings of ZZ Top and AC/DC.
