The NewArkansans - Rock, Blues, Soul & Folk

We’re pleased to announce that the excellent NewArkansans will be making a welcome return to JJJ on Saturday 29th June for their only UK gig this year.

The NewArkansans (aka TNA) are a Newark-based rock and roll outfit, “hellbent on delivering hair, tunes, and good times to the masses“. Folk rock and southern soul meet powerhouse British vocals provided by Rosie ‘Zita Corazon’ Corcoran (a fellow Brummie no less!) on vocals and Kelso Gin Whitney on guitar, harmonica and harmonies.

Formed in the gritty artistry of Newark New Jersey in 2016, The NewArkansans have delivered heat and heart across the US, UK and Europe ever since. Merging southern influence and blues guitar with raw British attitude and cosmically powerhouse vocals, TNA represents a contemporary vision of indie soul, rock and folk macabre mystique. Storied by eight years of life, touring relentlessly side-by-side, and branded in whiskey and debauchery, this duo reminds you that the highway of life deserves a speeding ticket.

From their previous appearances at JJJ we know we’re in for a great evening of live music!

Buddy Holly Experience - A Tribute to Buddy Holly

On Saturday 6th July we celebrate the music of pop music pioneer, rock ‘n’ roll influencer and all round music legend Buddy Holly at JJJ, expertly delivered by the incredible singer-songwriter and guitarist Sunjay and band in a show celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Buddy’s final ‘Winter Dance Party’ Tour in 1969!

In the spring of 2017 Sunjay was invited to play Buddy Holly in the touring theatre show Buddy Holly & the Cricketers. UK wide, Sunjay wore the horn-rimmed frames, the dinner suit, bow tie, talked Texan and traded in the acoustic guitar for a Fender Stratocaster! In fact the first song Sunjay learned to sing and play was a Buddy Holly song (Peggy Sue), and being in the stage show gave him the opportunity to sing some of his favourite numbers night after night, in front of hundreds of people; a dream come true you might say! Having worked up a great repertoire of Buddy Holly songs Sunjay was inspired to record the aptly titled Sunjay Sings Buddy (also featuring some of the stage show band members who have become firm friends) released on 1st December 2017.

Don’t miss out on what will be a fantastic evening of live music … and whilst not pre-empting the setlist, we’re fairly certain Peggy Sue, That’ll Be the Day, Oh Boy and Heartbeat will be on the menu .. along with many more classics!

Are You Experienced? - The Tribute to Jimi Hendrix

On Friday 26th July we are excited to welcome back to the JJJ stage legendary Jimi Hendrix tribute band Are You Experienced?

For over 25 years, the band have been recreating the timeless music of Jimi Hendrix, providing some nostalgic moments for those lucky people who actually witnessed Jimi in the flesh and recreating some of the magic for a new and eager audience!

The band is fronted by guitarist John Campbell, who bears more than just a passing resemblance to Jimi, and has drawn upon many years of playing in different bands and exploring various styles to perfect his ‘Hendrix’ persona. When he plays his Strat behind his head and with his teeth, it brings a smile to the face of even the most finicky Hendrix fan. As with any three-piece rock band the rhythm section provides the all-important foundation which allows John to improvise freely and this is provided by Phil Carter on drums and Mark Arnold on bass.

We recommend booking your tickets early as you don’t want to miss out on what will be a great night of live music when they come to town and relive the excitement and explosive stage show of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Let the band take you through all the favourites like Hey Joe, Voodoo Chile, Along The Watchtower, Foxy Lady and Little Wing, culminating in the guitar-burning finale of Wild Thing!
