The second of a two-day residence (yes, they’re a very popular lot), sees the awesome Vaseline return to JJJ for a ‘Christmas Spectacular’ on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd December.
Long time favourites at Joe Joe Jims, Rubery’s very own Vaseline features former Birmingham Poet Laureate Spoz on guitar and vocals, Mick, Nige & Rick with Spoz describing the live Vaseline experience as “chock full of 70s punk rock nostalgia, jumping about and strange hair cuts“!
The boys will be playing two sets of stonking punk classics, along with a few surprises given the Vaseline treatment, and expect cheeky banter, classic songs, some pogoing, probably a bit of spilt beer and some t-shirts: and we can’t wait!
We’re expecting high-demand and even though there are two shows (21st and 22nd), we’d still recommend booking early!

The UK’s finest tribute to all things Two Tone, the mighty Skabucks, make a festive return to the JJJ stage on Friday 27th December!
Bromsgrove’s very own Skabucks formed in 2008, have over 1000 gigs under their belts, and have enjoyed a career that has seen them work with The Pogues, The Move and members of The Specials and play at many large music festivals as headline act.
Playing classic hits from the original 60’s Ska and the revival Two-Tone era, the irresistible rhythms and in-your-face, rock-steady beat of Skabucks comes complete with a no-quibble guarantee to get everyone on the floor or, as the band put it, Skabucks are “badass mother-funkers delivering the top end of maximum Ska and Two-Tone” … and you can’t argue with that!
We are expecting high-demand for this gig so would recommend booking tickets as soon as possible.

On Saturday 28th December we are excited to be serving-up a double bill of blues rock and boogie when we host both the excellent Katie and the Bad Sign AND the legends that are Vincent Flatts Final Drive: it should be quite a night!
Hailing from Manchester, Katie and the Bad Sign – fronted by singer-songwriter Katie O’Malley – describe their sound as a mix of Americana, Blues & good ole Rock n’ Roll. Their 70’s inspired music takes you on a journey of catchy melody to gritty guitar sounds and gravelly throttling vocals, giving an essence of Janis Joplin brought into modern-day rootsy rock.
We hardly feel we need to describe the Flatts as you all know them by now, right? However, for the uninitiated we can attest to the fact that the boys always put on a great show packed full of driving boogie numbers featuring excellent guitar work from Gary Harper underpinned by the driving rhythm section of Rich Shelton (Drums) and Russ Cook (Bass) … oh, and of course Birmingham music leg-end Sir Steve ‘Bertie’ Burton on vocals!
Don’t miss this one folks – we’re expecting high-demand for tickets so recommend booking early (note the early start too!).

On the afternoon of Sunday 29th December we are pleased to welcome back the West Coast Eagles, performing their tribute to legendary LA country rockers the Eagles, to JJJ.
Covering the band’s extensive career from their early country-tinged hits to their more classic rock sounds that became more pervasive during the 1970’s and 1980’s, as well as solo songs by the group’s leading song-writers, Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Joe Walsh, the West Coast Eagles will provide a great evening of high quality music and musicianship.
Nailing the bands precise five-part vocal harmonies, arrangements, stage presence and staggering musical pedigree of the Eagles, with five singers, acoustic and electric guitars, keyboard, drums, and bass they provide a full sound, able to cover many bases, including one of the most famous harmony guitar parts in rock music, in Hotel California.
We’re expecting high-demand for this show so we’d recommending booking early.

On Sunday 23rd February we once again celebrate the music of pop music pioneer, rock ‘n’ roll influencer and all round music legend Buddy Holly at JJJ, expertly delivered by the incredible singer-songwriter and guitarist Sunjay and band!
In the spring of 2017 Sunjay was invited to play Buddy Holly in the touring theatre show Buddy Holly & the Cricketers. UK wide, Sunjay wore the horn-rimmed frames, the dinner suit, bow tie, talked Texan and traded in the acoustic guitar for a Fender Stratocaster! In fact the first song Sunjay learned to sing and play was a Buddy Holly song (Peggy Sue), and being in the stage show gave him the opportunity to sing some of his favourite numbers night after night, in front of hundreds of people; a dream come true you might say! Having worked up a great repertoire of Buddy Holly songs Sunjay was inspired to record the aptly titled Sunjay Sings Buddy (also featuring some of the stage show band members who have become firm friends) released on 1st December 2017.
Don’t miss out on what will be a fantastic afternoon of live music … and whilst not pre-empting the setlist, we’re fairly certain Peggy Sue, That’ll Be the Day, Oh Boy and Heartbeat will be on the menu .. along with many more classics!
