Children of the Gravy - Classic Black Sabbath Tribute

We are pleased to have secured the services of the excellent classic Black Sabbath tribute band Children of the Gravy for a night of music from the fathers of heavy metal on Saturday 23rd November.

The band’s aim is to provide a rock-solid, authentic show, featuring an array of Ozzy-era Sabbath classics, with a large helping of humour thrown in, with the following mission statement: “We blast em out (no ballads, and don’t ask us for “Changes” or I’ll bite the head off your dog) Just all the rocking Sabbath stuff you remember, and some that Sabbath never or rarely played live” … who could ask for more?

So, if you want to hear Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Into the Void, Killing Yourself to Live/National Acrobat and War Pigs played live and loud – and as close sounding as you’ll get to early Sabbath – then this is a gig you won’t want to miss!

We are expecting high demand for this gig and are selling tickets in advance online through Facebook/Eventbrite:

Miguel Montalban & the Southern Vultures + The Temple St Resistance
Dec 7 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Miguel Montalban & the Southern Vultures + The Temple St Resistance

On Saturday 7th December, in association with Erndor50, we are excited to present a double-header featuring Chilean guitarist Miguel Montalban & the Southern Vultures and the excellent Temple St Resistance.

The Temple St. Resistance are two brothers (The Son’s of Trevor Burton) with roots that reach deep into the Birmingham music scene. They play UK urban country blues with a kick: affecting lyrics, twisted melodies, stomping grooves. Heavy like a feather and light as lead, they’ll lift you and lull you and leave you flat on your back, whiskey drenched, sweat soaked, your head reeling but your soul craving more.

Miguel Montalban is now recognised all over the world thanks to the success of his albums and a series of street performances in Europe. His arrangement of Dire Straits’s song “Sultans of Swing” was a viral hit on YouTube ranking OVER 10 millions views! Miguel represents in London The International Busking Day and took him to meet Mark Knopfler at a Private Event organised and produced by Gibson Guitars and Busking London exclusively.

In Paris Miguel opened the International Motor Show in London and was Introduced to the stage by Rod Stewart at Cancer Trust Concert at The Victoria And Albert Museum in front of Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Tom Jones, and sharing stage with Chris Farlowe and Mike D’Abo and is currently working on a new blues rock album with his band, The Southern Vultures.

This is a not-to-be-missed chance to see two great bands playing in an intimate setting and as we are expecting high-demand for the gig, we are selling tickets in advance at the bar and via Eventbrite at £8.00 (Tickets on the door will be £10.00 if there are any remaining by the time of the gig).

Raymond Froggatt - Legendary Singer/Sonwgriter

We are very excited to announce that legendary singer-songwriter will be joining us on Sunday 8th December for  what promises to be one of our standout shows of 2019!

In 1964 Raymond met with Lou Clark, Len Ablethorpe and H Cain to form a band – at that time in Birmingham they were surrounded by talented friends who were doing the same;
Roy Wood, Jeff Lynn, Tony Iommi, Ozzie Osbourne, Bev Bevan, Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton, Steve Gibbons, Robert Plant – and in 1967 wrote his first hit followed by many more hits both here and abroad.  His songs have been covered by the likes of Cliff Richard, Dave Clarke, Daniel O’Donald, Gladys Knight and many, many more.

Playing every venue from large to small – Ronnie Scott’s in London to the Tulsa Ice Drome, the Elbow Room Birmingham to Wembley Arena – and has continued gigging and touring to this day with his band featuring Tom Farnell, Roger Brown and Pez Conner

So, to experience a fantastic show, with great songs spanning 54 years in the business, make sure to make a date in your diary and we’d strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance using the link below:

The Delray Rockets - High Octane Rockabilly

Friday 13th may be unlucky for some, but not us as we will be enjoying the excellent Delray Rockets who will be “putting the ‘Rock’ into Rockabilly” for what promises to be a great Christmas ‘warm-up’ gig!

As the band themselves point out, “don’t be fooled by the onstage setup of a double bass, Gretsch guitar and stripped down drum kit, looks can be deceiving. Once the amps are flicked on and the first beat is struck, hold onto your hats cos’ you’re in for a hell of a ride.

Whatever style of music floats your boat, we can guarantee you’ll have a job sitting still to the Delray Rockets and your foot will be tapping in no time … maybe even experiencing the undeniable urge to dance!

Vincent Flatts Final Drive - No-Nonsense Blues Boogie

Back by popular demand, and because we love ’em, Vincent Flatts Final Drive are returning to Joe Joe Jims to provide an evening of ‘take no prisoners’ blues boogie.

We hardly feel we need to describe the Flatts as you all know them by now, right? However, for the uninitiated, the band features legendary frontman Steve Burton (Bertie) – Starfighters and the E-Numbers being two previous bands of Bertie’s that spring to mind – and describe themselves as a “Whisky Swiggin’ Bad Ass Kickin’ Go Anywhere Giggin’ Boogie Band“ and we can attest to the fact that they always put on a great show packed full of driving boogie numbers, powerful vocals, excellent guitar work from Gary Harper and all underpinned by the driving rhythm section of Rich Shelton (Drums) and Russ Cook (Bass).

Don’t miss this one folks!

Andy Bennett – Singer-Songwriter (ex-Ocean Colour Scene)

Andy Bennett - Singer-Songwriter (ex-Ocean Colour Scene)

As a cure for the Boxing Day blues, we have ex-Ocean Colour Scene’s Andy Bennett performing two sets of his own material and classics from his extensive back catalogue on Thursday 26th December.

In addition to his solo work, Andy has been a member of Sargent, The Elements and Ocean Colour Scene of whom he was a member for over 10 years and appearing on eight studio albums. One song Bennett co-wrote “Old Pair of Jeans” received particular critical acclaim, with one critic writing “It just gets better with every song a winner. The jaunty ‘Old Pair of Jeans’ is rollicking fun”.

Bennett left Ocean Colour Scene in 2015 to begin a solo career putting out his debut solo single “Hole in the Road” straight off the bat and releasing the follow up single “Drift away” in May 2016. Both singles were followed by Bennett’s debut album “thinking, drinking, singing”. Released in November 2016 the album included old classics like “Old Pair of Jeans” and a plethora of songs Bennett had worked on over the years with his latest single, Do It All for Love, being released in November 2019.
