The Rooters – A Celebration of Classic Rock!

If you love classic rock, as we know a lot of you do, then Friday 28th March will be a date for your diaries as we welcome The Rooters back to Joe Joe Jims.

The band have played some barnstorming gigs with us previously and have a heavy gig schedule throughout the country and we’re extremely pleased that they’ve managed to fit us in for what will be another fine evening of “dual guitar attack with massive bass and drums to keep us rollicking along“, with two sets from the boys covering songs from bands such as Thin Lizzy, Queen, Metallica, Black Stone Cherry, Thunder, Black Sabbath, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ozzy, Iron Maiden and Deep Purple amongst many more artists.

Judging by their previous gigs, this should be a great night bulging at the seams with “smoking classic rock tunes twin guitars, vocals and amazing drums and bass.”!

On Friday 4th April we are looking forward to welcoming back Redditch’s very own Vehicle to the JJJ stage.

The well-established band describe themselves as “a tribute to the classic hits of the 70’s and 80’s” however, don’t think Middle of the Road or Wham! … think rock classics of the those two decades. Obviously, we can’t reveal their setlist for the evening however, a look at their repertoire reveals some belters by many of our favourite acts – Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Black Crowes, Pink Floyd, Midnight Oil, Eagles, ELO etc – so we think you (and us) will be in for a treat!

Gwyn Ashton – Blues Rock Guitarist / Singer-Songwriter

Gwyn Ashton - Blues Rock Guitarist / Singer-Songwriter

We’re excited to announce that we have secured the services of one of the hardest working and powerful one-man bands, rock/blues guitar legend Gwyn Ashton, for Saturday 5th April!

Welsh–Australian Ashton is on the top of the list of the new wave of modern blues rock artists, as spearheaded by The Black Keys, Jack White, Seasick Steve et al. A first class entertainer he oozes stagecraft and showmanship, combining songs and stories from a road well-travelled with dextrous guitar playing, blasting out drum beats on Bill Ward’s old Black Sabbath drum kit, grinding fuzz bass lines with his thumb while he viciously attacks his guitar with a bottleneck slide, singing and blowing blues harp into a lo-fi radio microphone.

Cutting his teeth with Sydney-based Swanee in the mid-80s, Ashton has worked with a who’s who of musicians/bands/sol artists over the years including being lead guitarist in Europe with Band of Friends (Rory Gallagher’s band) and in Australia with Stevie Wright (Easybeats) and Jim Keays (Master’s Apprentices). He has shared stages with BB King, Buddy Guy, Ray Charles, Peter Green, Van Morrison, Hubert Sumlin (Howlin’ Wolf), Mick Taylor, Status Quo, The Yardbirds, Slade, Robin Trower, Steve Hackett, Wishbone Ash, The Troggs and more. He has been invited onstage to jam with Mick Fleetwood, Canned Heat, Walter Trout, Elliot Randall (Steely Dan) and many others!

Don’t miss what will be a great show from a legendary musician in an intimate setting.
