Back by popular demand, and we love ’em, Vincent Flatts Final Drive are returning to Joe Joe Jims to provide an afternoon of ‘take no prisoners’ blues boogie.
Featuring legendary frontman Steve Burton (Bertie) – Starfighters and the E-Numbers being two previous bands of Bertie’s that spring to mind – and describing themselves as a “Whisky Swiggin’ Bad Ass Kickin’ Go Anywhere Giggin’ Boogie Band“, the Flatts’ show promises to be an event not to miss … and if you missed their previous gigs, where were you? On Wednesday the 2nd October we are pleased to welcome back local singer/guitarist Andy Thomas for two acoustic sets performing a mix of classic and eclectic covers from the 60s to the present – including songs from Paul Weller/The Jam/The Beatles/The Who/Small Faces/Ocean Colour Scene/Oasis/Stereophonics/Green Day/The Killers/The Zutons and, err… Abba.

On Thursday 3rd October we are pleased to welcome Life for their first visit to Joe Joe Jims.
Life are a 6-piece band led by Sue Fear – featuring Ray Sweeney (guitar) Nigel Darvil (keys) Alan Harper (harmonica) Buzby Bywater (double bass) Richard Heath (drums) – and will be performing swing, blues and jazz classics from the 1930s through to the 1950s along with some modern day jazz/blues covers.

On Friday 4th October we are pleased to present Félix Rabin live at Joe Joe Jims as part of his UK tour with his three piece band.
Felix is a singer-songwriter and gifted guitarist and was inspired by musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Pink Floyd … his style embodies these influences and blends contemporary Rock, with inventive riffs and moody melodies.
After touring around France, playing several times at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland where he was born and lived since childhood, and supporting Wishbone Ash on their 2018 UK tour, Félix is now ready to take his music and open doors in new territories. Fortunately, one of these is the UK! So, if a night of guitar music is on your agenda, then this show will be a night to remember!

On Saturday 5th October we welcome RailRoad – a Birmingham based five piece blues-rock band born from the ashes of popular local bands, Buckshee, Summerland, Psycho-Ward and Dodger – to Joe Joe Jims.
The band’s name is inspired by two of the most infamous live venues in the city’s history, the Old Railway Curzon Street and the Roadhouse Lifford Lane where the band members regularly played through 80’s and 90’s and they play a range of classic blues-rock covers and a few rocking originals and describe themselves as a “no nonsense Brummie rock & roll band“. On Wednesday 9th October we are pleased to present CT Riders who will be performing two sets for everyone to enjoy from 8.30pm
The band has a setlist packed with an eclectic range of classic rock n roll covers from the 60’s and 70’s and a few surprises from other eras for good measure! The band features a line-up of well established musicians including BJ Taylor Vocalist / Lead Guitar, Craig Boston Vocalist/Acoustic Rhythm Guitar, Steve Roadley Vocalist/ Lead Guitar, Ken Morris Vocalist/ Bass Guitar and Jake Yapp Vocalist/Drummer.

Jazz @ Joe Joe Jims continues on Thursday 10th October with two sets from the Ian Silk Trio.
Ian is an experienced Guitar Teacher with a demonstrated history of working in the music industry Skilled in Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Jazz Guitar, Rock Music, and Guitar Playing and we’re very much looking forward to seeing (and hearing) the Trio in action.

On Friday 11th October we are pleased to present Crow Black Chicken for what promises to be a great night of powerful blues rock from the Clonmel 3-piece as part of their UK tour.
Crow Black Chicken – Christy O’Hanlon, Stephen McGrath and Gev Barrett – have earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s top blues acts. Their sound combines elements of folk and hard rock with the blues rock of bands like Gov’t Mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. An extremely hard working band, they have built up a strong underground following throughout Ireland, the US, and Europe with multiple well received tours and one off gigs, including a slot at Glastonbury.

We are fortunate to have secured the services of Toronto-based blues rock band The Marwills on Saturday 12th October for a date on their short tour of the UK in support of their latest album A Mother’s Worry.
Major players in the US and Canadian rock market and frequent festival headliners, The Marwills are planning to take-on Europe and the UK in 2019 so this gig should be a great opportunity to catch them in an intimate environment! The band “make music with serious guts and they sweat while they do it. Their sound conjures smoky blues bars, shady drinking establishments, and the golden age of rock and roll”.
We’re sure the band are destined for big things this side of the pond and are hoping for a great turnout to welcome them to both Joe Joe Jims and the UK!

On Wednesday 16th October we’re excited to present Big Q Fish for their first visit to Joe Joe Jims … although the keen eyed amongst you will recognise bassist Mike Hatton from Steve Ajao’s Blues Giants.
The band’s tagline is ‘jazzers who rock, rockers who jazz‘ and the band offer quite an original concept having two guises: that of Jazz and improv-based music, following paths set by the likes of John Scofield and Bill Frisell, and that of their ‘rocker’ side playing a range of classic chart hits from the likes of the Beatles, Bowie, T-Rex and the Clash.
The band, featuring Brian Neil (guitar/vocals), Mike Hatton (bass/vocal) and Marcus Ingham (drums), are certainly one not to be missed and on top of that mouthwatering musical prospect … the gig is part of our FREE Wednesday sessions!

The Terry Clarke Band returns to Joe Joe Jims on Thursday 17th October bringing a groove-driven blend of R&B, up-tempo Blues and Swing, with some jazzy Latin vibes thrown into the mix.
Terry fronts a line-up featuring band members Al Mason – guitar, Smudge Smith – double bass, Nigel Darvill – keys & Howard Smith – drums & percussion..
Their set includes a mix of original material along with tracks paying homage to some of the great figures in R&B, Blues & Swing, such as Ray Charles, Mose Allison, Jimmy Witherspoon and Louis Jordan.

On Friday 18th October we are pleased to present blues rock band Voodoo Blue for their first visit to Joe Joe Jims.
The band has been a regular feature on the local Live Music scene, fronted by the charismatic singer Lee Eezee Rider and blistering guitar man Simon Viagra. More recently, Jamie the Kidd has jumped on board to head up the rock solid rhythm section on thundering Wedgie bass and a character of multiple personalities beats the drum skins within an inch of their lives.
They describe themselves as “an extremely entertaining band with quality music to boot!” … and who are we to argue?

Status Quo tribute band Quo Motion return to Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 19th October for what will be another great night of heads down, no-nonsense blues boogie.
Birmingham’s Quo Motion ensure that their live performances recreate the excitement and raw power of Status Quo, making sure that the music played live is as fresh and authentic as it can possibly and the large crowd who were at their last gig can certainly attest to that: make sure you don’t miss this gig!

On Wednesday 23rd October we are pleasedto present the first visit to Joe Joe Jims of singer/songwriter Wes Finch for our FREE Wednesday Session.
Wes hails from Leamington Spa (via Coventry) and cites his influences as Pavement, Tom Waits, Elliot Smith, Richard Thompson, Pixies, Ryan Adams, The Bellows and Gram Parsons and we’re really looking forward to enjoying two sets of folk, Americana and more.
Wes performed at the last Merrymaker Presents afternoon and we were we thought he was great and am sure you will too – so we hope to see a lot of you on the night!

We are pleased to announce that the Mike Davids Band will be returning to Joe Joe Jims on Thursday 24th October in what promises to be a great night of high-energy performances with the band providing their own interpretations of classics tracks.
With many years of experience between the members of the band, they offer a great mix of blues/jazz & rock vibes featuring a full brass section and headed-up by Mike Davids on guitar, covering a wide range of numbers and styles including tracks by Santana and Alvin Lee, among others.

On Friday 25th October we welcome back the excellent David King who is going to be performing two sets of classic covers for you all!
David is a very experienced local musician/singer and has a great range of covers to present from classic artists including a Mod-influenced set of tracks (David also appears in a Jam Tribute act) so expect some Paul Weller, Steve Marriott related stuff … and, of course, the Jam!

On Sunday 27th October Merrymaker Presents … features songwriter and guitarist Kitty Macfarlane from Somerset. Kitty has recently been nominated for the Horizon Award in the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Her debut album Namer Of Clouds was one of The Guardian’s Best Folk Albums of 2018 with airplay across BBC Radio 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music, meriting FATEA’s award for Female Artist of the Year and being nominated for Album Of The Year in the fRoots Critics Poll.
Along with sets from Kitty, singer songwriter Ellie Gowers wwill be performing, and, of course, indie/ folk band Merrymaker!
