Vincent Flatts Final Drive - No-Nonsense Blues Boogie

Back by popular demand, and because we love ’em, Vincent Flatts Final Drive are returning to Joe Joe Jims on Friday 27th May to provide another great evening of ‘take no prisoners’ blues boogie.

We hardly feel we need to describe the Flatts as you all know them by now, right? However, for the uninitiated we can attest to the fact that the boys always put on a great show packed full of driving boogie numbers featuring excellent guitar work from Gary Harper underpinned by the driving rhythm section of Rich Shelton (Drums) and Russ Cook (Bass) … oh, and of course Birmingham music leg-end Bertie on vocals!

We anticipate a huge demand for tickets for this show so recommend booking early … don’t miss this one folks!

Paul Snook + Jennifer Bolton – Charity Fundraiser

Paul Snook + Jennifer Bolton - Charity Fundraiser

On Sunday 12th June we are excited to welcome musician and singers Paul Snook and Jennifer Bolton to Joe Joe Jims for a special charity solo show raising funds for Purple Angel Dementia Awareness charity/World Rocks Against Dementia campaign.

Paul Snook:

British-Born singer/songwriter arrived in NYC to fine-tune song-writing and recording skills. Being a multi-instrumentalist, enabled ‘Snook’ to immerse himself in all genres of music. Hard Core Rock, Reggae, to smooth R&B.

As a Bass-player, Paul has performed or appeared with Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Bill Withers, Natalie Cole, Darryl Hall, Alexander O’Neal, to name a few. As a vocalist, with Robbie Blunt (Robert Plant’s Guitarist) at ‘Real World,'( Peter Gabriel’s studio) And Malcolm McLaren on commercials. Influences include; Curtis Mayfield, Isley Brothers ‘Snook, has also worked with singer/songwriters and recording artists, as a producer/engineer and mixer.

He credits, Rock, Hip-Hop , Dance, Country, Classical, Ethnic, even Steve Reich as constructive influences in his mental library. “I am not afraid to immerse myself in diverse styles of music, and convey my interpretation to listeners, nothing is original anymore. I think it’s important to remain true to yourself, and ignore limitations.” ‘Snook’s’ style, is led heavily by the guitar, which gives his compositions a degree of timelessness, his vocal range soars from a rich tenor timbre, up to an aesthetic and sometimes powerful falsetto. ‘Alive’ transcends, many musical atmospheres, but never fails to deliver conviction, meaningful lyrics, and heartfelt vocals.

Jennifer Bolton:

Jennifer is “a proud Brummie … born and bred” and has over 120 commercial releases working with some great producers over the years such as recent releases with Ministry of Sound DJ Paul Morrell & Blair – their song ‘Bad For Me’ has been on Capital Radio Network Playlist for over 6 months and ‘Feel My Love’ featured a remix by Grammy-nominated K:Klass!

Other highlights over the years include the club anthem Take Me Away on Just Another Label, working with Phil Da Costa on various projects including their 90s release of the Motown classic ‘Love Child’ (which had a remix by Norman Cook aka FatBoySlim – The B’Stard Mix) and ‘Follow the Sun’ which was a massive underground hit on the Happy hardcore scene featuring Jennifer as a member of Triple J.

This should be a great opportunity to see a world-class artists performing in an intimate setting after careers playing some of the biggest venues around the world and also to raise money for a very worthy cause!

John Verity – Classic Blues Rock
Jun 17 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
John Verity - Classic Blues Rock

On Friday 17th June we welcome John Verity (ex-Argent) and his band to Joe Joe Jims.

Guitarist/vocalist John Verity has had an incredible career in music from his early days in Tunnel – who supported the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Mountain, Canned Heat, Savoy Brown, and Janis Joplin – and then replacing Russ Ballard in Argent from 1973-1976, through to producing, playing guitar, or doing backup vocals with various acts including Motorhead, Tank, Ringo Starr, Russ Ballard, Colin Blunstone, Brian Connolly, John Parr, BowWowWow and The Searchers to his solo works where he has worked with many guest collaborators including Mike Rutherford of Genesis (who wrote three songs for John!).

Fast forward to the later 1970s when, along with Bob Henrit and Jim Rodford he formed Phoenix, which soon signed to CBS records. John produced the Phoenix albums and co-produced the Charlie album ‘Good Morning America’ as well as the first Saxon album during this time, and decided to divide his time between sessions and record production, until late in 1981 when PRT Records MD Matt Haywood asked JV to record a comeback album.

“Interrupted Journey”, released under the name Verity in 1982, was highly acclaimed in the UK, USA and Europe and successfully relaunched John’s performing career, as he once again took to the road and is still regarded as one of the breakthrough albums of the early 1980s which prompted both a UK and European tour. In the many years that followed John received ‘interesting’ offers to join various ‘name’ bands but decided to go his own way with collaborations of his choice, both in and out of the studio.

In fact, John’s CV looks like a ‘who’s who’ of classic rock luminaries and we’re very pleased that he and the band will be hitting the stage at Joe Joe Jims for what promises to be a fantastic evening of music drawing on John’s extensive back catalogue and previous bands.

Rock Bottom - A Tribute To UFO & Michael Schenker

On Friday 15th July we present the much anticipated return to Joe Joe Jims of UFO/Michael Schenker tribute band Rock Bottom.

Rock Bottom was formed in 2012 by a group of experienced musicians united by a love of classic UFO / Michael Schenker Group presenting a high energy stage show which draws heavily from the “Strangers In The Night” and “One Night At Budokan” live albums blending quality musicianship, driving on-stage energy and authentic tones from that magical 70’s and early 80’s era.

Featuring Liam Evans (Vocals), Mark Birdsall (Lead Guitar), Neil “Fozzy” Foster (Bass), Geoff Potts (Keyboards/Rhythm Guitar) and Phil Rusling (Drums), the band’s setlist features such gems as Into The Arena, Love To Love, Lights Out and Doctor Doctor among many, many other classic tracks.

Judging by their previous gig, we’re expecting very high-demand for tickets so we’d recommending booking early!

Show Starts: 8.30pm | Ticket: £12.00 (+Fees) online | £14.00 on the door (subject to capacity) | Buy Tickets Online
