Live music returns to Joe Joe Jims for the first time since March with the return of The Ferrets on Thursday 17th September. What’s more, our kitchen will be open too serving a mouthwatering range of sour dough pizzas and handmade burgers … and if you arrive before 7.00pm and purchase food we’ll even throw in a FREE entrée (and we don’t mean peanuts)!

Mother Popcorn’s Loz Rabone treats us to an intimate, acoustic performance on Sunday 20th September.

In his own right, Loz is professional singer and guitarist with many years of experience performing acoustic covers drawing from a huge repertoire of rock, indie, folk and pop classics from 60’s to modern day.

A typical set would include covers from bands such as: The Beatles. Oasis, Paul Weller, The Verve, The Stereophonics, The Kooks, Chili Peppers, Kings Of Leon, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Green Day, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Kinks … sounds good to us!

On Sunday 4th October we are pleased to welcome back the excellent Midnight City Soul Band to Joe Joe Jims who are a well established (formed in 1982) five piece band playing a mix of classic Northern Soul & Motown grooves.

The band have in store classic tracks such as Uptight, Seven Days Too Long, Do I Love You, Green Onions and Time is Tight. To sum-up the band, “the sound is big and full, Hammond organ, tenor sax, bass, lead guitar and drums; one of the most powerful and soulful musical line-ups to come out of Birmingham” … well, we should all be in for a good afternoon then: a ‘must’ for all lovers of Northern Soul!

Dan Sealey (ex-Ocean Colour Scene) and Adam Barry (ex-Merrymouth/The Misers) bring their acoustic set to Joe Joe Jims on Wednesday 4th November for a pre-lockdown shindig featuring classic covers ranging from the 1950s to the present day along with some gems from their previous band catalogues.

We are really excited to have secured the services of The Rock Bottoms and we are looking forward to seeing the boys, who have had great careers playing and touring the world, in an intimate setting.

Back by popular demand, and because we love ’em, Vincent Flatts Final Drive are returning to Joe Joe Jims to kick-of our 2021 gig calendar and provide an evening of ‘take no prisoners’ blues boogie.

We hardly feel we need to describe the Flatts as you all know them by now, right? However, for the uninitiated, the band features legendary frontman Steve Burton (Bertie) – Starfighters and the E-Numbers being two previous bands of Bertie’s that spring to mind – and we can attest to the fact that they always put on a great show packed full of driving boogie numbers, powerful vocals, excellent guitar work from Gary Harper and all underpinned by the driving rhythm section of Rich Shelton (Drums) and Russ Cook (Bass).

Sunday 30th May sees the return to Joe Joe Jims of legendary singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Dave Onions for what will be a great afternoon of acoustic music.

Dave’s currently working as a solo acoustic player and performs live with both guitars and mandolins playing original music written by himself and his wife plus “a little frivolity/humour and a number of instrumentals” that also showcase his distinctive, percussive guitar style.

So, come along and enjoy an evening of Dave’s rootsy blend of folky blues (or bluesy folk … whichever you prefer!).

On Friday 4th June we welcome Dave Small to Joe Joe Jims for a solo acoustic gig of covers and original material.

Dave has been a regular performer at Joe Joe Jims with Arcadia Roots and has also appeared with Dave Onions, Matt Woosey and Drifter – for a special show on Bob Marley’s birthday.

Expect some reggae-tinged classics along with some of Dave’s tracks from his extensive back catalogue.
