Quill (ft Bev Bevan) - Rock, Folk and Americana

On the afternoon of Sunday 10th May we are excited to announce that the legendary Birmingham band Quill – featuring ELO’s/The Move’s Bev Bevan on drums – will be playing live at Joe Joe Jims as part of their Spring 2020 Tour.

Quill is a seven piece music group originally from Birmingham UK which blends Rock, Folk and Americana styles with a unique blend of drums and percussion, violin and beautiful vocal harmonies.  2019 saw the launch of a brand new line-up that includes the legendary drummer Bev Bevan, known all over the world as a member of ELO, The Move and Black Sabbath and we are very much looking forward to them visiting Joe Joe Jims.

Along with Bev, their full line-up consists of Joy Strachan-Brain: Vocals, Abby Brant: Keyboards, Vocals, Kate McWilliam: Violin, Vocals, John Jowitt: Bass (ex Ark/IQ), Lee Evans: Guitar and Andy Edwards: Drums, Percussion.

The band state that “anyone seeing and hearing Quill in concert will wonder at the magic of the performance! Quill has developed a unique musical style that has captured many varied influences, plying Celtic folk hued Fleetwood Mac-ish rock before the Corrs were invented!” … and who are we to argue?

We are expecting a high-demand for this gig so would strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

The band’s name is inspired by two of the most infamous live venues in the city’s history, the Old Railway Curzon Street and the Roadhouse Lifford Lane where the band members regularly played through 80’s and 90’s and they play a range of classic blues-rock covers and a few rocking originals and describe themselves as a “no nonsense Brummie rock & roll band“. On Friday 22nd May we are pleased to welcome back blues rock band Voodoo Blue to Joe Joe Jims.

The band has been a regular feature on the local Live Music scene, fronted by the charismatic singer Lee Eezee Rider and blistering guitar man Simon Viagra. More recently, Jamie the Kidd has jumped on board to head up the rock solid rhythm section on thundering Wedgie bass and a character of multiple personalities beats the drum skins within an inch of their lives.

They describe themselves as “an extremely entertaining band with quality music to boot!” … and who are we to argue?

Matt Long & the Revenant Ones - Riff-Driven Heavy Rock

On Saturday 23rd May we are excited to present Matt Long & the Revenant Ones as part of their album release tour.

Matt Long has carved himself a reputation as a stellar front man of award-winning British Blues-Rock band Catfish and is now on the road with new riff-influenced rock material.

With Catfish, Matt was awarded Blues Act of the Year in England and both of their albums have reached no 1 in the IBBA Blues Airplay Charts. Catfish has completed many successful
tours of Europe and the UK over the last few years, with a very busy touring schedule including major European and UK festivals. However Matt missed playing heavier music as
well as Blues-Rock and had a few songs that were too heavy and rocky for his other outlets. So in 2018 he started putting together ideas for a new group to go down the Heavy
Rock route.
