Crow Black Chicken - Powerful Blues Rock

On Friday 11th October we are pleased to present Crow Black Chicken for what promises to be a great night of powerful blues rock from the Clonmel 3-piece as part of their UK tour.

Crow Black Chicken – Christy O’Hanlon, Stephen McGrath and Gev Barrett – have earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s top blues acts. Their sound combines elements of folk and hard rock with the blues rock of bands like Gov’t Mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin.  An extremely hard working band, they have built up a strong underground following throughout Ireland, the US, and Europe with multiple well received tours and one off gigs, including a slot at Glastonbury.

The Marwills – Canadian Blues Rockers

We are fortunate to have secured the services of Toronto-based blues rock band The Marwills on Saturday 12th October for a date on their short tour of the UK in support of their latest album A Mother’s Worry.

Major players in the US and Canadian rock market and frequent festival headliners, The Marwills are planning to take-on Europe and the UK in 2019 so this gig should be a great opportunity to catch them in an intimate environment! The band “make music with serious guts and they sweat while they do it. Their sound conjures smoky blues bars, shady drinking establishments, and the golden age of rock and roll”.

We’re sure the band are destined for big things this side of the pond and are hoping for a great turnout to welcome them to both Joe Joe Jims and the UK!

Voodoo Blue - Powerful Blues Rock

On Friday 18th October we are pleased to present blues rock band Voodoo Blue for their first visit to Joe Joe Jims.

The band has been a regular feature on the local Live Music scene, fronted by the charismatic singer Lee Eezee Rider and blistering guitar man Simon Viagra. More recently, Jamie the Kidd has jumped on board to head up the rock solid rhythm section on thundering Wedgie bass and a character of multiple personalities beats the drum skins within an inch of their lives.

They describe themselves as “an extremely entertaining band with quality music to boot!” … and who are we to argue?

Big Jim & the Black Cat Bones – Blues, Jive & Rock n Roll

Big Jim & the Black Cat Bones - Blues, Jive & Rock n Roll

On Saturday 9th November, Black Country blues & roots vocal/harmonica legend Big Jim, former frontman of the excellent Red Lemon Electric Blues Band, comes to Joe Joe Jims with the red-hot rockin’ combo Black Cat Bones for what will be a great night of blues tinged rock & roll!

The musical pedigree of the Black Cat Bones is strong with the band featuring Andy Harris on bass & Pete Wheatley on guitar (both of whom some may remember from Stourbridge prog rock band Ark), Colin Edmonds on drums (who some may recall being AKA Duke Delight in the Redbeards from Texas many moons ago) and, of course, Big Jim Merris on vocals and harmonica (who regular visitors to Joe Joe Jims will have seen joining Vincent Flatts Final Drive on stage to provide some ass kickin’ blues harp).

Describing their musical style as ‘Blues Soul Rock n Roll Jump Jive Ska’ the boys state their approach as “just a bunch of good friends making music together without any concerns or pretensions” … and we’re really looking forward to seeing them at Joe Joe Jims.

Melvin Hancox Band - Blues/Rock Psychedelia

The Melvin Hancox Band make a welcome return to Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 16th November for another great evening of “blues/rock played with more psychedelic experience and imagination than most“!

Melvin has had a varied musical career from securing his first record deal at 16 to forming Joe Joe Jims favourites Vincent Flatts Final Drive and working with Budgie, Man, Tony McPhee, Canned Heat and the Ace Kefford, among many others, and now fronts his own band – featuring local legend Tony Baylis on drums – playing classic rock and blues numbers with their own twist. Their extended version of Freebird (yes, it is possible to extend the guitar solo!) formed a show stopping finale to their last gig and we’re glad they could fit us into their hectic schedule.

We can guarantee this show will be one not to miss.

Children of the Gravy - Classic Black Sabbath Tribute

We are pleased to have secured the services of the excellent classic Black Sabbath tribute band Children of the Gravy for a night of music from the fathers of heavy metal on Saturday 23rd November.

The band’s aim is to provide a rock-solid, authentic show, featuring an array of Ozzy-era Sabbath classics, with a large helping of humour thrown in, with the following mission statement: “We blast em out (no ballads, and don’t ask us for “Changes” or I’ll bite the head off your dog) Just all the rocking Sabbath stuff you remember, and some that Sabbath never or rarely played live” … who could ask for more?

So, if you want to hear Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Into the Void, Killing Yourself to Live/National Acrobat and War Pigs played live and loud – and as close sounding as you’ll get to early Sabbath – then this is a gig you won’t want to miss!

We are expecting high demand for this gig and are selling tickets in advance online through Facebook/Eventbrite:
