Fletch-Fest 100 Weekend – Steve Gibbons & His Band + Support
May 2 @ 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Fletch-Fest 100 Weekend - Steve Gibbons & His Band + Support

On Saturday 2nd May, as part of Fletch-Fest – our 100 years anniversary celebrations – we are pleased to present Steve Gibbons & his band plus support from Sue Fear’s & her band.

Steve Gibbons needs no introduction as he’s a legendary rock performer from Birmingham with a seemingly endless list of accolades, musical projects and past bands including The Uglys (featuring Richard Tandy – later of ELO), Idle Race and in 1971, forming the Steve Gibbons Band featuring another local musical legend, Trevor Burton.

Sue Fear & her band will be performing swing, blues and jazz classics from the 1930s through to the 1950s along with some modern day jazz/blues covers.

We’re expecting high-demand for this gig and recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Fletch-Fest 100 Weekend – All Day Music Festival

Fletch-Fest 100 Weekend - All Day Music Festival

On Sunday 3rd May, as part of Fletch-Fest – our 100 years anniversary celebrations, we are pleased to present a full day of live entertainment featuring:

– Vincent Flatts Final Drive
– The Ferretts
– The Delray Rockets
– The Rock Bottoms

We hardly feel we need to describe Vincent Flatts Final Drive as you all know them by now, right? However, for the uninitiated, the band features legendary frontman Steve Burton (Bertie) – Starfighters and the E-Numbers being two previous bands of Bertie’s that spring to mind – and always provide a great set of ‘take no prisoners’ blues boogie.

The Delray Rockets “put the ‘Rock’ into Rockabilly” and, as the band themselves point out, “don’t be fooled by the onstage setup of a double bass, Gretsch guitar and stripped down drum kit, looks can be deceiving. Once the amps are flicked on and the first beat is struck, hold onto your hats cos’ you’re in for a hell of a ride.

The Ferretts, featuring Lol Cooke, provide a high-octane set of Classic Blues, Rock & Soul and feature some of the region’s finest musicians who previously played two great shows at Joe Joe Jims.

The Rock Bottoms feature Dan Sealey (ex-Ocean Colour Scene) and Adam Barry (ex-Merrymouth/The Misers) and they are bringing their acoustic set to Joe Joe Jims for a collection of classic covers ranging from the 1950s to the present day along with some gems from their previous band catalogues.

We’re expecting high-demand for this gig and recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Fred Zeppelin - A Tribute to Led Zeppelin

Back by popular demand, and because we thought they were great, we have once again secured the services of the the excellent Fred Zeppelin to perform their tribute to the legendary Led Zeppelin on Friday 8th May!

Featuring Steven Gale (vocals), Elliot Gavin (guitar), Mark Cresswell (bass) and Steve Black (drums), the band request you “Dust down the afghan, light up the joss sticks and let ‘FRED ZEPPELIN’ re-create the atmosphere of that great era by playing all the classic tunes of the greatest rock band ever ‘LED ZEPPELIN’” and o give a flavour of their pedigree, Led Zeppelin’s front-man Robert Plant has attended three of their gigs, John Bonham’s son Jason has jammed with them on stage and they were invited by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page to attend a charity event of which Jimmy is a patron. So expect an authentic tribute to one of the greatest rock groups of all time!

We’re selling tickets in advance for this gig and as we’re expecting high-demand, it may sellout before the gig so we’d recommending booking early.

Quill (ft Bev Bevan) – Rock, Folk and Americana

Quill (ft Bev Bevan) - Rock, Folk and Americana

On the afternoon of Sunday 10th May we are excited to announce that the legendary Birmingham band Quill – featuring ELO’s/The Move’s Bev Bevan on drums – will be playing live at Joe Joe Jims as part of their Spring 2020 Tour.

Quill is a seven piece music group originally from Birmingham UK which blends Rock, Folk and Americana styles with a unique blend of drums and percussion, violin and beautiful vocal harmonies.  2019 saw the launch of a brand new line-up that includes the legendary drummer Bev Bevan, known all over the world as a member of ELO, The Move and Black Sabbath and we are very much looking forward to them visiting Joe Joe Jims.

Along with Bev, their full line-up consists of Joy Strachan-Brain: Vocals, Abby Brant: Keyboards, Vocals, Kate McWilliam: Violin, Vocals, John Jowitt: Bass (ex Ark/IQ), Lee Evans: Guitar and Andy Edwards: Drums, Percussion.

The band state that “anyone seeing and hearing Quill in concert will wonder at the magic of the performance! Quill has developed a unique musical style that has captured many varied influences, plying Celtic folk hued Fleetwood Mac-ish rock before the Corrs were invented!” … and who are we to argue?

We are expecting a high-demand for this gig so would strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

RailRoad - Classic Rock

On Saturday 16th May we welcome back RailRoad – a Birmingham based five piece blues-rock band born from the ashes of popular local bands, Buckshee, Summerland, Psycho-Ward and Dodger – to Joe Joe Jims.

The band’s name is inspired by two of the most infamous live venues in the city’s history, the Old Railway Curzon Street and the Roadhouse Lifford Lane where the band members regularly played through 80’s and 90’s and they play a range of classic blues-rock covers and a few rocking originals and describe themselves as a “no nonsense Brummie rock & roll band“. Find out more about the band  on Facebook @RailRoadRock and Instagram @RailRoadRocks – we are very much looking forward to their gig!
