On Friday 1st November, Black Country blues & roots vocal/harmonica legend Big Jim, former frontman of the excellent Red Lemon Electric Blues Band, comes to Joe Joe Jims with the red-hot rockin’ combo Black Cat Bones for what will be a great night of blues tinged rock & roll!
The musical pedigree of the Black Cat Bones is strong with the band featuring Andy Harris on bass & Pete Wheatley on guitar (both of whom some may remember from Stourbridge prog rock band Ark), Colin Edmonds on drums (who some may recall being AKA Duke Delight in the Redbeards from Texas many moons ago), Ken Moore on keys (a boogie woogie maestro who has played all over Europe for the last 20 years) and, of course, Big Jim Merris on vocals and harmonica (who regular visitors to Joe Joe Jims will have seen joining Vincent Flatts Final Drive on stage to provide some ass kickin’ blues harp).
Describing their musical style as ‘Blues Soul Rock n Roll Jump Jive Ska’ the boys state their approach as “just a bunch of good friends making music together without any concerns or pretensions” … and we’re really looking forward to seeing them at Joe Joe Jims.

We are pleased to have secured the services of the excellent classic Black Sabbath tribute band Children of the Gravy for a night of music from the fathers of heavy metal on Saturday 23rd November.
The band’s aim is to provide a rock-solid, authentic show, featuring an array of Ozzy-era Sabbath classics, with a large helping of humour thrown in, with the following mission statement: “We blast em out (no ballads, and don’t ask us for “Changes” or I’ll bite the head off your dog) Just all the rocking Sabbath stuff you remember, and some that Sabbath never or rarely played live” … who could ask for more?
So, if you want to hear Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Into the Void, Killing Yourself to Live/National Acrobat and War Pigs played live and loud – and as close sounding as you’ll get to early Sabbath – then this is a gig you won’t want to miss!
We are expecting high demand for this gig and are selling tickets in advance online through Facebook/Eventbrite:
